Swiss cannabis law: the rules in force

The Narcotics Act is the starting point. Medical use and authorised research have separate rules.

CannabisGesetz.ch editorial deskPublished 7 Nov 2026Reviewed 7 Nov 2026

Context

Cannabis containing at least 1% THC generally falls within narcotics controls. The personal possession rule for up to 10 g is separate from the rules on consumption, acquisition, growing and supply.

What to check

Check THC content first, then the particular activity. For a CBD product, its category also matters, such as food, cosmetics or medicines.
