CBD and THC: how the rules differ

Different product rules apply to low-THC cannabis depending on its intended use.

CannabisGesetz.ch editorial deskPublished 7 Nov 2026Reviewed 7 Nov 2026

Context

Under the enforcement guidance, cannabis below 1% total THC generally falls outside narcotics law. This does not make every CBD oil or other preparation marketable.

What to check

Consider presentation, purpose and instructions together. Foods, cosmetics and medicines have different requirements for ingredients and claims.
